This week sees all senior and junior grades on the pitch.

In this edition;

  • Woolworths Blasters and sausage sizzle

  • Leadership group meets

  • Meals on selection nights

  • Reduced ball fees for players introducing new sponsors

  • UK based players on their way

  • Player of the round

  • $5 sale this Thursday

Woolworth Blasters The Woolworths Blasters fun 10 week program kicks off this Thursday at 4.30pm. Thanks to our energetic and talented Woolworths Blasters Coach, Brian Gray, for volunteering his services again. All kids are invited along for a fun cricket afternoon. Each Thursday following the Blasters session we will hold a sausage sizzle - $2 per snag. Leadership Group meets At last Thursdays training the club continued its leadership development journey with its second session with Leadership Coach, Rod Robinson. Twelve players were involved in the session where the key takeaways were;

  • How we treat each other is key to our success - positivity

  • Leadership is not shown by a title, rather by your actions

  • To successfully own their future, the players need to design that future themselves

  • Be brave to do and say the right thing, others will follow.

These same twelve players will work with Rod and the entire playing group throughout the year to design a successful playing future - watch this space! Meals on Selection Nights Whilst Tuesdays are now dedicated to thorough and targeted training, Thursdays are aimed at building the social fabric of the club. On senior men's selection nights the club will be cooking meals after training, starting this week with schnitzel and chips. Bring some cash or a card and have a feed and refreshment after training. Reducing player ball fees - introduce a sponsor To reduce ball fees each round players have the option to introduce a new sponsor to the club. The reduction in fees is as follows;

  • Gold sponsor reduces ball fees to zero, or

  • Silver sponsor reduces ball fees to $10 per round.

Speak to a committee member to get a copy of the new Sponsorship Prospectus or to find out more information about this option. Recruits from the UK Tim, Liam and the recruiting team have been working hard over the last few months to lock in some new playing recruits. Whilst the priority was to secure some local or interstate recruits (and some seeds have certainly been sown there) the team has moved on to international recruits. Working with our gun 22/23 season Derbyshire recruit, Nafis Shaik, the team have almost secured;

  • Raaza (no 3 bat) and his wife Thameenah, and

  • Tauseef (fast swing bowler)

If you have or know of any work in the finance/banking, teaching/early childhood or retail sectors please get in touch with a committee member. Player of the round - juniors and seniors This year the club will be recognising the player of the previous round for each grade on selection/meal nights. If you or anyone you know would like to sponsor the player of the round for a particular grade please reach out to a committee member. If you are a parent, spectator or other interested person please feel free to come down on meal night, have a feed and recognise our superstars. $5 sale - shed clean out If you are in need of a hat, cap or some secondhand cricket gear bring your $5 notes (or credit card) to training this week as we'll be cleaning out the shed. Many bargains to be had. Good luck to all sides this week. Thats all for this edition. Until next time - Go Blues
